Saligkåringsprosess fortsetter til tross for press

ROME, OCT 12 (ZENIT).- Pius XII's cause for beatification has not been postponed. Historian Peter Gumpel, reporter of the cause, said: "I am authorized to state that this news has no foundation."

According to Gumpel, "the cause of beatification of Pius XII proceeds normally and rapidly." Last Friday, when presenting Fr. Pierre Blet's book on "Pius XII and the Second World War," Cardinal Pio Laghi admitted the existence of pressures by the Israeli Embassy to the Vatican to suspend Pope Eugenio Pacelli's cause for beatification. But Cardinal Laghi himself added that these pressures had no official character.
