Chronology of Catholic Dioceses:Notes on the erection of the Prelature of Santíssima Conceição do Araguaia - 1976
The erection of the Prelature of Santíssima Conceição do Araguaia will appear as confusing. In fact, a Prelature "nullius" of that name was erected already in 1911. This Prelature received the new name of Marabá in 1956, as its See was moved from Santíssima Conceição.
Then, in 1976, another Prelature was erected, in Santíssima Conceição do Araguaia, and with that name. In spite of how it surely appears, this was an all new jurisdiction and not a continuation of the 1911 jurisdiction.
