Chronology of Catholic Dioceses:Notes on the Diocese of Janaúba, 2000
On 5 July 2000, it was made public that the Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, has erected the diocese of Janaúba (in Brazil, in the state of Minas Gerais), detachting it from the diocese of Montes Claros and from the diocese of Januária. The new diocese will be a suffragan of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Diamantina.
