Chronology of Catholic Dioceses:Notes on the Diocese of Dragonara / Draconaria 1059-1061
The diocese of Dragonara (Draconaria) was erected in the XI century after the Council of Melfi (1059). A bishop of Dragonara is known from 1061. The diocese was probably abandoned in the same century, we have the last "memory" of this diocese on the door of the cathedral of Benevento c. 1200. In 1580 its territories were put under the new diocese of San Severo.
