Chronology of Catholic Dioceses:Notes on the Diocese of Populonia / Corino / Massa Marittima
The Diocese of Populonia was erected about 490. Populonia was destroyed in 575 and again in 809. The see was then moved to Gualdo / Waldum regis, and later to Cornino / Castrum Corniae. Finally it was moved in the 12th century to Massa Marittima and renamed.
