Chronology of Catholic Dioceses:Notes on the Diocese of Malindi
On 24 June 2000, it was made public that the Holy Father erected the diocese of Malindi (Kenya), with territory detached from the Archdiocese of Mombasa and from the Diocese of Garissa. The new Diocese is comprised of two districts, Lower River and Lamu, detached from the Diocese of Garissa (to which remains the following three civil districts - Mandera, Wajir and Garissa), and one district - Malindi - detached from the Archdiocese of Mombasa.
