Chronology of Catholic Dioceses:Notes on the Armenian Eparchy of Alexandria / Iskanderiya
The Annuario Pontificio 2000 states the eparchy was erected in 1885. However, this date is suspect. Notizie 1847 does not list the see. However, the AP for 1864 states that the Bishop of Alessandria "rito Armeno" was consecrated as Archbishop on 26 Aug. 1849. The see was vacant for about 20 years between the mid-1860s and mid-1880s, but it was listed in the Annuario Pontificio. Prior to the Annuario Pontificio 1958, the name was listed as Alessandria. Since 1958, it has been listed as Iskanderiya.
