ROME AGENDA FOR CATHOLICOS OF CILICIA OF THE ARMENIANS

VATICAN CITY, JAN 21, 1997 (VIS) - The agenda for the January 23-26 visit to Rome and the Vatican by His Holiness Aram I, the Catholicos of Cilicia of the Armenians, has been made public.

The day of his arrival includes a morning visit to St. Peter's Basilica to pray and one to the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity. In the afternoon John Paul II will welcome Aram I.

Friday, January 24, there are visits scheduled to the Vatican Apostolic Library, the Sistine Chapel, the basilicas of St. Mary Major and St. John Lateran, and the community of St. Egidio.

On Saturday the 25th, Catholicos Aram I will have a private meeting with the Holy Father, who will also greet the members of his entourage. He will then meet with Cardinal Secretary of State Angelo Sodano. Late morning includes a stop at the Pontifical Armenian College. At 6 p.m., in St. Paul's-Outside- the-Walls, the Catholicos will participate in the concluding celebration for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. He leaves for Venice on Sunday, January 26.
