Chronology of Catholic Dioceses:Notes on the Diocese of Montecorvino 1059

The diocese of Montecorvino (the town is today called Motta Montecorvino) was erected in the XI century after the Council of Melfi (1059). Its first bishop was Beato; its second bishop, St. Albert of Montecorvino, was elected before 1075. The town was destroyed in 1137. The diocese was formally incorporated in Vulturaria in 1433, which, in turn, was incorporated in Lucera in 1818.
