Chronology of Catholic Dioceses:Notes on the Diocese of Thurio - Turio - Copia Thurii

The evangelization took place in apostolic age. Pope Telesphorus was born here.

There are conflicting information about the origins of the diocese. Some sources mention the IV century, but it is possible it was a diocese since the I century. It is possible that the diocese did not exist until about 480.

The place was destroyed in 597, and the see moved to Rossano.
