Chronology of Catholic Dioceses:Notes on the Apostolic Vicariate of Madagascar, 1848-1851

The Apostolic Vicar of Madagascar died in 1848, and the newly erected Apostolic Prefecture Sainte-Marie, Nossi-Bé and Mayotte was then entrusted with the administration of Madagascar. This arrangement prevailed until 1851.
